MOJO Backstage. Dutch Masters of the Music Industry

12 April 2019 until 1 September 2019

In the spring of 2019, the Museum Prinsenhof Delft will present MOJO Backstage. Dutch Masters of the Music Industry. With this exhibition, the museum celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of an extraordinary Delft organisation: MOJO Concerts.

Driven by his love of pop music, Berry Visser, of Delft, founded a company that grew into the top music promoter in the Netherlands. Bob Dylan’s first stadium concert in the Netherlands, the first multi-day music festival, in the Kralingse Bos in Rotterdam, halls especially designed for concerts, innovative crowd control barriers and cathedral-shaped  festival tents, all conceived by MOJO. With this, MOJO founded popular music culture in the Netherlands and showed how a small country can do great things.

With MOJO Backstage, the Museum Prinsenhof Delft is placing a genuine ‘Delft master’ in the limelight. This is fully in accordance with the museum’s ambition to provide a podium for leading Delft talent whose innovations have influenced the Netherlands and the world. In the spirit of those Delft masters, the exhibition tells MOJO’s story in an innovative way. Besides objects, the experience of a concert or festival will be central. Visitors will step into the shoes of both artists and audience and feel the thrill of a music event. To this end, the Museum Prinsenhof Delft is working together with designer Peter te Bos.
